Braeburn Coffee is Applegreen's in-house coffee brand, created for use at their larger Irish sites.
Initially the brand was focused on self-service coffee machines, with an unusually broad offer, included iced coffee and non-dairy milk. This, along with their range of snacks, allows them to brand Braeburn as more than just a machine, but rather a "first-class experience". The machines were expanded to a dedicated, 24-hour drive thru café in May 2023, which was then brought to Rathcoole services in April 2024.
The Rathcoole branch was heavily promoted independently of Applegreen. Drive thru coffee shops remain very rare in Ireland, and Braeburn uses a similar building to the British Starbucks that are built by Applegreen's sister company.
Braeburn was created by BrandNew Creative, and was launched in October 2020, although it didn't reach the major sites until January 2022. Applegreen's main rival, Circle K, had launched their own coffee brand several years previously, while Applegreen had been relying on Costa and Lavazza.
Before creating Braeburn, Applegreen had sold coffee under their own brand, alongside Costa at the largest sites. Costas became Lavazza around the time Braeburn began to spread.
