The only online service area on the road to Galway is a treat for anybody who refuses to shunpike.

The service area opened on 6 October 2010, under a 25-year contract. It was part of 'tranche 1', the first three service area contracts to be awarded in Ireland.

Bids to operate the service areas were received by [[Applegreen]], [[Esso]], Top and {{GB|Welcome Break}}. Welcome Break's consortium "Service Area Solutions", was shortlisted, but Welcome Break described the traffic levels as "unrealistic". Ironically, Applegreen won the contract (as SuperStop) and are now Welcome Break's parent company.

This is currently the only service area in Ireland only accessible from a tolled motorway. Despite being named after the town in Co. Meath, it is in fact over the border in Kildare.

The service area opened with units branded aCafé, [[Burger King]] and [[Costa]]. aCafé became [[The Bakewell]] in 2017, joined by [[Freshii]] on the westbound side and [[Subway]] on the eastbound side. The [[Costa]] lounges both became [[Lavazza]] in 2022, with [[Freshii]] closing soon after.
