These images are screenshots taken from Google Street View.
As a large, research-based website, we don't really like images from Street View, because they can look poor and we are then relying on Google not changing their rules.
We use Google Street View to show things that we can't possibly photograph ourselves, usually because the building has been demolished, and where that image is needed to illustrate a page. It shouldn't be used to photograph current situations, or to add to galleries that are already full.
Even then, be careful to avoid including any labels or stitching in the screenshot, and try to take it from a good angle. Basically, make it look like the photos we normally host. Make sure to credit "Google Street View" as the photographer.
A record of all the Google Street View images we host is kept here. If we get an opportunity to replace any of these with our own photos, we should do so!
