Entrance and stairs for the footbridge at Fleet North, situated at the opposite end to the building entrance near the toilets. Remarkably, this footbridge was totally unaffected by the 2016 blaze. It was damaged in parts on the Southbound side, meaning as you walk closer to Northbound, the older everything seems to appear. The Scott Mills bridge was officially named in March 2016, and naming followed a campaign by the Scott Mills show’s Co-presenter to get things named after Mills, the BBC radio 1 presenter. It’s a motorway oddity and nothing else like this can be seen at motorway services. There’s no signs suggesting this is the Scott Mills bridge on the Southbound side as the plaque was likely destroyed when the fire broke out. You’d think this bridge would stand out more, but it’s very bog-standard. You do get a nice view of the M3 from the bridge however. Scott Mills bridge would’ve been in higher demand before 2020 when the Northbound side had a McDonalds restaurant. With it being a popular brand, it was common for Southbound customers to think there was a McDonald’s on the side in which they stopped, however, customers where directed over the bridge to Northbound, causing more customers to cross the Scott Mills bridge. Nowadays, the two Fleets have more similar brands, meaning there’s less need for customers to cross this footbridge. The stairs are very grey with the painted walls and non-slip floor and there is evidence of Welcome Break advertising brands on the Southbound side. The footbridge was surprisingly in quite high usage during my visit, however, Fleet was fairly busy.
