KFC outlet at Fleet Northbound, situated at the far left of the food court set amongst other food units opposite a large seating area. Because of this, KFC is a takeaway unit without seating of its own. KFC is Welcome Break’s oldest brand partner, which they’ve used since 1989. I’d say this unit is early 90s and was here before McDonalds opened. It’s small but foes the job. Despite refurbishments made to Fleet North’s food court, the section where this KFC is still appears dated in this pic, largely due to the old floor tiles. KFC is a prime example of motorway services using well-known high street brands to attract customers off the motorway, as KFCs “fanbase” will gravitate towards stopping at Fleet because it’s available and signposted from the M3. Moto recently introduced KFC outlets to more sites, making these older, Welcome Break KFCs seem less significant, when at one point, they were the only operators using the brand. KFC has received a few recent facelifts, with self-service ordering machines being made available after 2016. Its popular with families and service is typically fast, even when it’s busy. KFC a good example of how much motorway services have changed gradually, going from restaurant sit-down meals to bargain buckets. KFC do tend to inflate their motorway prices slightly, and as Fleet gets busy over the summer period, it’s likely the prices here will be slightly higher than other Welcome Break sites. Their menu is good value for what it is anyhow, even with inflation. KFC was surprisingly quiet during my visit as it was midday, however, I can assume if my visit was around an hour later, it would be much busier. KFC is advertised lots around the site and from the road.
