Exterior of the 2018 built amenity building at Fleet Southbound, located on the M3 in Hampshire. This is a large, metal building which is brightly lit and houses more facilities than the Northbound side. In December 2016, the old building at Fleet South (which was larger than Northbound) faced a colossal fire which sustained significant damage and the old building, which could not be repaired after this fire, so between 2016 and 2018 this new building was constructed, with temporary facilities being provided within that time frame. This fire closed the M3, but a new building allowed Fleet to expand its range of facilities and as it was already a busy place, especially during summer when Londoners travelled to Cornwall, they built it huge with plenty of seating space, and a PizzaExpress. The building is a large black block with wooden pillars throughout, presumably to be in keeping with the forestry surroundings. It’s a clean amenity building and one Welcome Break have the right to advertise as it visually looks impressive. There are plenty of vehicle parking spaces at Fleet South, making it more useful during busier periods.
