Original file(960 × 1,280 pixels, file size: 267 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

New Burger King offer at Fleet North, located in a refurbished section of the food court towards the back, next to the hybrid unit and near seating. BK opened at Northbound in 2021. In 1995, Welcome Break began opening McDonald’s restaurants, with their own seating, with one of their first locations being Fleet Northbound. In 1996 and being purchased by Granada, Welcome Break stopped using McD & switched to Burger King. For years, if you wanted a BK at Fleet, you would have to cross the footbridge as it was only at Southbound. McDonald’s closed permanently in 2020 following lockdown, leaving lots of empty space for Welcome Break to work with, so they opened 2 new units, one being Burger King. It was one of the first BKs to open with their new corporate logo, which is based off their 90s logo, hinting that BK might want to resort back to being more of a retro brand as they were in the 90s. It’s a large takeaway unit without its own customer seating as there’s a brand new, large seating area next to this. Since 1996, Burger King has become well known to major UK roads. It could be suggested that BK takes customers of KFC and Subway as those units were quiet compared to this (Burger King was quite busy during my midday visit) but they all have different fan bases. Burger King is often criticised for having extremely inflated pricing structures by the motorway. BK do this to seem more appealing to operators, but don’t necessarily consider customers who will be put off by these extortionate prices and will eat (possibly stop) somewhere else. Burger King is signposted from the M3 Northbound and is now advertised lots around the Northbound side despite not having been here long.
