Trivia and History

A BP forecourt next to a road, with a Costcutter and Subway shop.
The westbound partner, Flying Horse, which isn't a signposted service area.

The eastbound forecourt at Browns Blue appears to date back to the 1950s and was originally owned by the car dealership on site.

The forecourt was acquired by Euro Garages in 2015, who added a Greggs store in an extension to the existing sales building. They later rebranded the site from BP to Esso in June 2018. This investment came despite EG Group running a much larger site just down the road at Markfield, which they have since abandoned.

The SPAR store rebranded to Sainsbury's On the Go in 2020, before reverting back to SPAR in late 2021. This later changed to ASDA On the Move in January 2023, before becoming part of the Asda Express estate on 21 November 2023.

There is another BP forecourt at the Copt Oak Road roundabout. This one is unsigned and is also known as the Flying Horse, referring to the pub at the same junction.
